Relax...It Won't Be Long

Have you all heard about the U.S. House of Representatives latest move towards socialism? The Democratic ruled house passed an energy bill targeting the oil companies. That's great right? We need to get those bastards who are sitting on their billions profit while we are struggling to fill our tanks! I agree, but the House decided to raise taxes on oil companies...all of the companies except Venezuelan owned CITGO.

What do you think is going to happen when the oil companies get the latest tax bill? You will see prices at the pump go up even more. This is a ridiculous idea! and giving a tax break to socialist dictator Hugo Chavez? Yea, way to sell out the American people Pelosi! Are you giving him a tax break in hopes that he will come here and teach you guys how to efficiently take over a country and oppress its people?

They should start running with this slogan--- "Liberals; raising taxes, killing babies and selling out since the beginning of time!"

To tell you the truth, I would not be the least bit surprised if Obama or Hillary won in November considering the Republicans are putting up a weak candidate like McCain. I can understand where everyone is coming from and all. I just don't like to sell out. But, I suppose, with the bullseye that the media has had on the GOP for the last 4+ years, we don't have the luxury of voting for our favorite candidate in the primary. We are stuck with the most "electable".

Don't worry my traditionalist friends. It shouldn't take too much longer. If, as predicted, a Dem takes office in '09, they surly won't be reelected. It will be a classic Jimmy Carter scenario. 4 years of total Dem control, higher taxes, more government, bad economy and weak national security and the American people will be fed up, subsequently ushering in 20 years of conservative rule.

Of course, if the Dems do happen to win again in 2012, then my suggestion to you would be to give your heart to Jesus as it would signal that the END is imminent.

Special Interest?

I am sure you have all heard about and are sick of hearing about the New York Times story alleging a sexual relationship between Senator John McCain and a Washington lobbyist. Of Course, this story has been discredited as a shotty piece of journalism allowed by a left-wing editor and meant to derail the McCain campaign. However, I take issue with the negative connotation attached to the word "lobbyist".

Now, I am not denying that when you get lobbyists together with legislators there is an increased risk of scandal. This is not to mention that for other legislative employees lobbyists can be quite annoying. I experience this first hand trying to push my way through the mob of lobbyists in the hallway at the Indiana Statehouse every day. But lobbyists are not evil people. Sure, I have only experienced them in action at the state level, but I know two Washington lobbyists, even call one of them ( a former lobbyist for the health insurance industry) my mentor.

The truth is that the legislative process would not work without lobbyists or "special interest groups". Legislators know a little bit about a lot of issues, but they typically do not know a whole lot about one single issue. This is where the lobbyists come in. It is a lobbyist's job to be extremely educated on certain issues (generally pertaining to the group they are lobbying for). These lobbyists then share their knowledge with legislators who then are either moved to introduce legislation or decide for themselves how to vote on a certain piece of legislation. Believe it or not, by lobbying for a special interest group, lobbyists are lobbying for you!

Key point: Without lobbyists we would have weak and possibly damaging legislation. So, let's not be too hard on our friends the lobbyists!

Jon Elrod's Conservatism

Today in the Indianapolis Star there was an article which talked about some republicans having a problem with what they called Jon Elrod's own brand of conservatism. This is simply not true. The Indy Star just WANTS Republicans to be concerned about Jon Elrod's loyalty to party issues. The Star based their assumption on the fact that Representative Elrod has refused to vote in favor of an amendment to the Indiana Constitution that would define marriage as between one man and one woman. This shouldn't even be an issue in the U.S. Congressional race considering most Republicans agree that the issue of gay marriage should be left up to the state governments. Besides, Indiana already has a laws banning gay marriage, this is just a formality. It is a formality I support of course, but it is no reason to disregard Jon Elrod calling him a questionable conservative. Jon Elrod holds all of the traditional beliefs a conservative should. He is for small government, lower taxes, fiscal responsibility and, among many other things, he is pro-life! Besides his politics, he is a man of great character and integrity. I have the privilege of seeing him almost everyday. I know that he has the experience to get the job done for those in Indiana's 7th district in Washington.

7th District

If elected, Andre Carson would be Indiana's first Muslim representative and only the 2nd Muslim Congressman in U.S. history. It is not THAT Andre is Muslim it is that he attends an Islamic center that has its roots in black separatism. Trust me, I am not attacking Muslims in general here, though I do think we need to be cautious in the post-9/11 world. In fact, I take more of an issue with Carson's inexperience than I do with his faith or EVEN his politics. I would like to note however, that Andre Carson has ties with Louis Farrakhan who is radical, often referred to as one of America's number one anti-Semites and a man who is famously know for referring to Caucasians as "white devils". Just something to think about.

Indiana 7th District

The all new Howey-Gauge poll came out and the results were in todays Howey Political Report. The results show Democrat Andre Carson leading State Representative Jon Elrod (R-Indianapolis) 54-36 percent for the special congressional election to be held for Indiana's vaccant 7th district seat on March 11th. Now, I am not too big on polls, but when a poll shows such a commanding lead it is hard to deny.

Andre Carson, the grandson of the late Congresswoman Julia Carson, has been on the Indianapolis city counsel since the summer of 2007. THATS IT people. What is that? Six months of governing experience at the municipal level! And you are going to elect him to represent you in the United States House of Representatives. Why? Because of his name? Because his grandmother was seen by many in the African American community as iconic? No wonder people are losing faith in our government.

Let's take a look at the other 7th district candidate, Jon Elrod. This young Hoosier Republican has had experience with the law in his family run law firm, two years experience in township level government and two years experience making laws in the Indiana House of Representatives.

Even if you are a Democrat. Way the options here. Andre Carson will get to Washington and have no idea what is going on. Jon Elrod is already prepared for the job. Even if you don't agree with Elrod, vote for him. Vote for experience until the general election when hopefully your party can come up with a better qualified candidate!

Make 'Em Work

My parents always tried to teach me financial responsibility. All throughout High School I had a job. I bought my first car, paid my insurance and cell phone bills and I would have never dreamed of asking them for money to go out with friends. It is not that my parents couldn’t afford these things. I knew that they could which made me angry at first. They always said that my brother and I needed to learn responsibility and how to become productive members of society. They also taught me that there is nothing free in this world. If something is labeled as “free” than someone, somewhere is paying for it. So, how much of our (those of us who work on campus, off campus or during the summer) tax dollars go towards those “free” checks that welfare families receive every month?
I know you are thinking, “Oh great, now he is bashing the poor”. That is not what I am doing I assure you. However, I am quite vexed with the way that welfare is distributed in this country and with the people who abuse the system. Welfare is supposed to be a temporary government aid to help families get back on their feet. Did you know that there are third and fourth generation welfare families in this country? There are. This is because we have taught people that it is perfectly fine if you do not want to work. The government will take care of you.
When you give someone something for nothing it takes away their dignity. This leads to higher crime rates and the decline of urban neighborhoods. When welfare programs were first instituted in this country with the New Deal people we not just given a check every month. The first welfare programs included the WPA and the CCC which put people to work for the government cleaning up parks and highways, planting trees etc. I believe that every able bodied person who needs money should work for it! Obviously I would be willing to make exceptions for the physically and mentally handicapped, but eve they have something to offer to society. If President Roosevelt were alive today he would be appalled with our welfare system.
I am sick and tired of people believing that the government is there to provide for their every need. It is not. This country was founded on the idea of LESS government intervention. I am not advocating neglect for the poor but it is not the government’s job to care for them. It is our job. Church groups and charitable organizations should help the needy and I should be able to choose which needy group I want to give my money to. If we are going to have welfare programs they should be set up more like the WPA. There is nothing wrong with helping people but we need to give them a hand up not a hand out. We need to teach people responsibility and the skills that they need to become productive members of society. Cutting them a check every month is just further harming them and contributing to a vicious handout cycle. This is going to sound very cliché but I will go ahead and say it anyway. If you give a man a fish he will eat for a day. If you teach a man to fish he will eat for a lifetime. We need to reform the welfare system and make ‘em work.

What's Next? Global Cooling?

Since Al Gore cannot be president, I guess a Nobel Peace Prize will do. He is sharing the prize for his efforts to fight “global warming”. Yes, I put that phrase in quotes. If the former vice president is so concerned about “global warming” than why is he still flying on private jets, being carted around in big SUV’s and why is the energy bill for ONE of his homes reported to top 30,000 dollars a year? Spell it out with me hyp-oc-risy.
Back to putting that phrase in quotes. Do I believe in the greenhouse effect? Yes. However, I do not believe that “global warming” is as big of a problem as many liberal tree-huggers make it out to be. When we look back in history we can see that our lovely planet routinely goes through climate changes. I read a study done by the National Center for Policy Analysis that claimed that during the Jurassic period the earth was an estimated average of 4 degrees Fahrenheit warmer. I don’t think that the Flintstones’ foot-powered vehicle didn’t emit any greenhouse gases. It is some sort of cycle. I am not denying that there are holes in the ozone. I do think that we need to research and use alternative fuels for environmental as well as dependency issues but I do not think that our hairspray and our cars are going to make the poor polar bears and penguins go extinct. Nor do I believe that in ten years there will no longer be a California, Louisiana or East Coast. If in ten years California is gone than it will be because God has finally sunk it to the bottom of the Pacific along with all of those who inhabit the state.
Many people claimed that hurricanes Katrina and Rita were results of “global warming”. That statement is actually quite comical. In 1938 a massive hurricane hit the east coast north of the Carolinas. New York City, of all places, was ravaged leaving hundreds dead and millions of dollars in damage. Calculating inflation, the 1938 hurricane is the sixth costliest in U.S. history. Should we blame that one on “global warming” too?
Environmental activists (and Al Gore) are just alarmists who take thunder away from the real pressing issues. As the global climate cycle continues there will come a day when the earth will start to cool back down. I predict that if Al Gore is still alive he will call this “global cooling” and encourage American citizens to increase their carbon emissions and lobby for the reintroduction of CFC’s. Maybe he will win another Nobel Peace Prize.

Dirty Indiana Democrats

Here in Indianapolis, the Indiana General Assembly is focused on fixing the state-wide property tax crisis. They are also trying to push through other important legislation such as a constitutional amendment to define marriage as between one man and one woman. The Indiana Senate, which has a Republican super-majority, passed a bill that would impose heavy consequences on employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens or fail to use the federal e-verify system. The Democrats, who have a 51-49 majority in the Indiana House, tried to tie this legislation up in committee preventing it from reaching the floor. Thank God, the language of the legislation, Senate Bill 335, is going to be amended into Senate Bill 334 and hopefully passed. But Democrats tying up good legislation in committee only represents a fraction of the mess the Democrats are creating in the Indiana House of Representatives.
Last Thursday the Democrats passed an amendment to a bill that was not at all germane to the actual bill. This is against the rules that the members of the Indiana House of Representatives agreed to follow. However, when the Republican minority made a point of order to throw the amendment out, it was overruled by the frumpy, old, Democratic Speaker B. Patrick Bauer (D-South Bend). This angry little man and his lackies are egregiously abusing their 51-49 majority. The Republican minority would not stand for it and walked out. The House stood in recess from Thursday until today, losing four session days in this, a short session, which ends on March 15th. Speaker Bauer and the Democrats even instructed the Clerk’s office staff to come in late today so that the Republican members could not file any amendments by the eight o’clock deadline.
I was on the House floor today to witness Republican Leader Brian Bosma (R-Indianapolis), red in the face, scold the Democrats for their blatant abuse of power. Speaker Bauer ended the argument before it went too far (mostly to save face I suspect) and it is sad that the Republicans, who are only in the minority by one seat, had to bite their tongues and move on so that they can get the people’s business done before March 15th. The Indiana House Democrats are destroying six years of bi-partisan progress and trying to derail four solid years of economic and social progress made in the state of Indiana largely by our wonderful Republican Governor, Mitch Daniels. These dirty tactics and backwards politics are sure to continue, especially in this, an election year. So stay tuned for updates!
P.S. Is Bauer's toupee fooling anyone? I didn't think so

Self-Destructing Democrats

Democrats. You say you want a revolution? Well, you know, we all want to change the world. You tell me it’s the institution! Well, you know… You’re right! It is the power-hungry, hypocritical Democratic institution that will prevent the “change” you are all hoping for to come about. It is the evil of one Mrs. Hillary Rodham Clinton that will cause the self-destruction of your party this year. Obama has pulled out as the Democratic primary front-runner with more states and delegates won. You think it matters? Think again. Hillary will continue to win delegates here and there and will refuse to concede defeat. Obama’s lead will not grow to be insurmountable for the Clinton Camp. See, the Clintons (yes plural) are relying on all of their friends who are super-delegates to get her the party’s nomination. Many of these “super-delegates” (who don’t seem so super to me) have already come out in support of Senator Clinton saying that they will vote for her come convention time, no matter what their constituents think. There are 796 super-delegates. Most of these delegates stand to gain much more from voting for the Clinton Political Machine than they do from voting for the young, African-American Senator from Illinois. You thought the general election of 2000 was bad? With the recounts and Supreme Court ruling. Just you wait, you silly little Dems. Your party will spiral into utter chaos when Obama technically wins the primary process but Hillary gets the nomination as a result of these so-called “super-delegates”.Why don’t you people get it? Your party’s leaders do not care about this country! They do not care about you! They may make it seem so with their fantastically unreliable rhetoric, but all they care about is power. Do you actually think these people want to provide nation-wide health care, take away our second amendment rights, increase social welfare programs etc. because they want to help you and keep you safe? No! Oh no! These policy brain farts are designed to expand the federal government’s authority and hand absolute power to the far left-wingers. Our country’s government is slowly shifting to a social dictatorship like that of Venezuela, or if Hillary has her way, a one-world order with her as its Marxist head. You Democrats and “independent” voters always do this. You like what the Republicans are doing in the federal government for about eight years, then decide that they aren’t providing you with enough of what you want and go wild supporting some unpatriotic, far-left nut jobs. You need to understand that what is best for this country is not always pleasant. It doesn’t always mean that the government will provide for your every need. It doesn’t always mean that you are free to do what you want without consequence. What is best for this country is traditional values and conservative (not always republican) control! You Democrats might as well just not vote this time around and watch your party go down in flames. Believe me, I will be enjoying every second of it!

Islamic Outrage

So, another Valentine's day has come and gone. Yes, there were Islamo Facists all over the world protesting the day, claiming it is simply a way to press wild western values on Islamic youth. See, us westerners like to hug and kiss and give cards and chocolate as a way of showing our affection towards one another. Even if these radical muslims were capable of feeling or showing affection, they would do it in a very different way. Maybe show their wives some tough love by throwing rocks at them for not fully cleaning the dishes or showing a little ankle. A few more people were killed earlier this month in Nigeria. Three Christians who made a cartoon out of the profit Mohammed. This stuff happens all of the time but you won't hear about it on the mainstream media because the left-wing nuts that run outlets such as NBC and the New York Times do not want Americans to know how bad the problem of radical Islam is. Sure, we heard about the big riots after the Danish cartoon featuring Mohammed, but that was kind of unavoidable. A Documentary made by a Danish man is set to be released next month (March 2008) that describes the Koran as a "fascist" book which incites murder (do you disagree?) I am sure that no one will give this documentary publicity for fears that it may incite riots, murders etc. But wouldn't that just prove to the world that radical Islam is indeed the religion of perpetual outrage? Wouldn't that prove the filmmaker's point? Show the damn thing, make fun of Mohammed, reveal these people for who they really are!

ILLEGAL

Calling an illegal alien an “undocumented immigrant” is like calling a drug dealer an “unlicensed pharmacist”. Illegal aliens are not just a nuisance in this country. Sure, it bugs the hell out of me that everywhere I go I have to see signs in Spanish, and every time I call a customer service line I have to press 1 for English. I live in the United States of America for Christ’s sake, it should be assumed that I want you to speak English to me! But illegal aliens are damaging this country socially, economically and in every other way imaginable. You may not agree with me, but let me tell you something; you are entitled to your own opinions, but you are not entitled to your own facts.

FACT: 33 percent of our prisons are now filled with non-citizens.
What does this mean? This means that those of you who defend illegals by claiming that they are merely coming here to do work that Americans will not do, are dead wrong. This means that illegal immigrants have drastically increased crime in this country, especially border states. The Hispanic gang, MS13 is growing at such an alarming rate that police departments in California and other border states have had to create special task forces to deal with it.

FACT: It is estimated that 36-42 percent of illegals are on welfare.
Again, this means that they are not coming to this country to WORK!

FACT: There are an estimated 18 million American citizens that cannot find a job. Many employers would much rather hire an illegal who will work for a barely livable wage.
Illegal aliens are not doing work that Americans won’t do. Americans still landscape, clean hotel rooms, work in fast-food restaurants etc.

FACT: Households headed by illegal aliens imposed more than $26.3 billion in costs on the federal government in 2002 and paid only $16 billion in taxes, creating a net fiscal deficit of almost $10.4 billion, or $2,700 per illegal household.
Our economy would not collapse without illegal aliens. In fact, we would be much better off without them.

FACT: In 2003 56 million dollars in pure cash was sent back to illegal aliens’ home countries, taking money out of the American economy.

FACT: Emergency rooms are shutting down in border states. Over 300,000 babies are born to illegal mother each year. These babies are being delivered at the cost of the American taxpayer, many of them being paid for by Medicaid. It is not just births however. Illegals have no choice but to go to the emergency room and without insurance guess who is left holding the bill? In California, the losses are calculated to be about $79 million, with $74 million in Texas, $31 million in Arizona, and $6 million in New Mexico.
All you left-wingers are hollering for lower health care costs, or even more preposterous, universal health care. If you want lower costing health care, get rid of illegal aliens. Maybe then old folks could afford the prescriptions they can’t live without.

FACT: Behind many of the nation’s millions of undocumented workers are someone else's documents. To get a job, illegal immigrants need a Social Security number, and they often borrow one. Every year, nearly 9 million people pay their taxes using the wrong Social Security number. The name used on W-2 tax forms used by employers doesn't match the name on file with the Social Security Administration. There can be many reasons why -- a data entry typo by a human resources department, a woman changes her name after marriage and forgets to report it, or an illegal alien uses someone else's SSN to get a job.
Social Security calls this a "no-match" situation. When this happens, the Social Security Administration collects the money, but the wage credits go into limbo. They don't end up on anyone's annual Social Security statement, they end up in something called the Earnings Suspense File. Since 1984, when the Social Security card employment verification requirement kicked in, nearly $500 billion in wages has ended up in that file. (Bob Sullivan MSNBC)
I could forever list the growing costs of illegal immigration in this country, but I think I have made my point. Illegal aliens are not benefiting America. They in fact are a detriment to our beloved way of life. They do not come here to do jobs “Americans won’t do”. They are generally not good people. Let’s face it, they are criminals. They don’t call it illegal immigration for the hell of it. They are criminals. They are responsible for billions in lost tax dollars, high health care costs, identity theft and they are even responsible for much of the drug trafficking between Latin America and the United States. If you claim to be a patriot, do not defend these people. If you suspect your neighbor, your co-worker etc. to be an illegal alien, visit reportillegals.com to report them to the correct government agency.

Just Another Empty Promise

The Democratic presidential candidates, Senators Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton, are promising “change” for the American people if elected this year. Both presidential hopefuls are making one big promise that is apparent they don’t intend, or will not be able to keep. That promise is to “bring home the troops”.
If you are one of those nutty leftists that believe bringing the troops home is the best course of action, at least tell me that you don’t believe that either Democratic candidate will actually get it done. Let’s not kid ourselves people. Do you think that these candidates don’t know that if they were indeed elected, it would be near impossible for them to order the U.S. military out of Iraq? Even if it were possible to do so it would be political suicide.
Let me take you on a trip. Remember, this is a fantastical trip; one you can only go on by reading this or doing drugs. For the sake of this trip we will imagine that the Democratic presidential nominee, Hillbama, has been elected and was indeed serious about withdrawing from Iraq. After the November elections, Hillbama will continue his hard rhetoric and empty promises of bringing the troops home. Day one in the White House Hillbama will be asked, “What is the first order of business Mr. President?” “Let’s bring the troops home,” President Hillbama answers. His top aid chuckles a bit and looks over at the president only to see that he has a befuddled look on his face. “That was a joke right?” says the top aid. “I thought that was just another empty election promise. We can’t do that.”
See, the people in Washington know that withdrawing from Iraq is not a current possibility. Whether they agreed with the war from the beginning, never agreed with it, or are simply unsatisfied with the execution of the war, Washington insiders know that withdrawing from Iraq would lead to utter chaos in the country creating a fresh breeding ground for terrorists and further destabilize the entire region. No military or political adviser in their right mind would let a president pull all U.S. troops out of Iraq, especially after the exceptional military and political progress that has been made since the troop surge that President Bush pushed for a little over a year ago.
Do you think that the Democratic candidates, both U.S. Senators actually believe that withdrawing from Iraq is a possibility? Do you think that they don’t know what the ramifications of such actions would be? Furthermore, do you think that these senators are not privy to classified military intelligence? Do you think they do not know about interrogation practices, torture and extraordinary rendition? C’mon people, don’t be so naïve. Senator Obama is on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and Senator Clinton sits on the Senate Armed Forces Committee. These two candidates know what is happening in the war on terror and they know that they would be unable to do anything about it if elected president. I am quite sure that they wouldn’t want to do anything even if they could. Hillbama is just dishing out the same old empty promises in hopes that it will be enough to get him elected.
